Three music series are bringing music to a wide variety of venues throughout the region: Through December, “Henze100” presents a series of events focusing on the works and legacy of Gütersloh-born composer Hans-Werner Henze (1926–2012). Through concerts, films, and readings, the city of Recklinghausen showcases how Henze’s work and cultural identity continue to inspire artists today, featuring performances at established venues in Gelsenkirchen, Essen, and Recklinghausen, as well as smaller cultural venues such as “die flora” in Gelsenkirchen.

The 13th edition of the KLANGZEIT Festival will take place in October (Oct. 8–11) with six concerts at the Theater im Pumpenhaus in Münster and will also feature sound installations and concerts throughout Münster’s urban space during the festival—free of charge and outdoors. The Society for New Music has chosen “Bridges” as the theme for the festival of contemporary music, focusing on the creation of connections.

For the fifth time, Pianeo is dedicating a concert series to neoclassical music. In about ten performances, international musicians will present a blend of classical, electronic, pop, and jazz. For the first time, the festival organized by RESET e.V. is also offering a residency program for musicians, who will present their work as part of the events.
