The LWL-Kulturstiftung has been supporting cultural projects in the region since 2004.
As an independent private foundation under civil law, it operates from Münster in the region. Its activities are guided by the foundation’s statutes and are directed by the foundation’s committees.
Statutes of the foundation
The special focus of the funding activities is on supra-local, interdisciplinary or interdisciplinary cultural projects and collaborations with a Westphalian-Lippe connection. Cultural networks are to be maintained and expanded. The foundation is open to project funding in various cultural areas: Visual arts, theater, dance, music, film, literature and regional studies as well as projects in museums and in the preservation of archives and monuments.
The foundation’s activities are based on the statutes, supplemented by the funding guidelines (german versions only).
Foundation committees
Board of Trustees
As an independent supervisory body, the Board of Trustees oversees the Executive Board’s compliance with the foundation’s objectives. It decides on the main features of the foundation’s activities, such as the use of the income from the foundation’s assets. The Board of Trustees meets twice a year for these purposes.
The members of the Board of Trustees are also members of the Regional Assembly of Westphalia-Lippe and are elected by the Regional Committee. The regional assembly and committee are made up of political representatives from the districts and independent cities in the region.
The Board of Trustees has nine voting members:

Management Board
The Management Board represents the foundation and prepares the decisions of the Board of Trustees. Its task is to realize the purposes of the foundation within the framework of the NRW Foundation Act and the foundation statutes.
In accordance with the Articles of Association, the Executive Board consists of representatives from the top management of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe
The Management Board consists of:
- Chairman of the Board: Dr. Georg Lunemann, Director of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe
- Deputy Chairwoman of the Board: Birgit Neyer, Chief District Administrator and Treasurer of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe
- Board member: Dr. Barbara Rüschoff-Parzinger, Director of Cultural Affairs Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe
Management
The management conducts the day-to-day business in the cultural and financial administration areas.
The management consists of:

FAQ: Is the LWL-Kulturstiftung tied to the LWL budget?
As an independent private foundation under civil law, the foundation funds are not part of the LWL budget.
