“North Rhine-Westphalia is a state of migrants,” notes historian Christoph Nonn. What is the situation like in a region such as OWL, which lies away from the major metropolitan areas? And what impact did migration after 1945 have on urban society in Paderborn? The exhibition explores these questions in depth. The history of migration and integration is told through the stories and experiences of the people who have lived through it and continue to do so. Interviews with eyewitnesses therefore play a central role in the exhibition.
The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Wewelsburg District Museum, the Bielefeld Historical Museum, and the Minden Museum. Students from the University of Paderborn are presenting four media installations. An accompanying book explores the history of migration in Paderborn.
