When Lena, a young girl from Münster, finds a book from 1942 on her grandmother’s bookshelf, she thinks it is an adventure novel. However, Heinrich Schulte-Altenroxel (1867-1947) describes his own experiences in “I sought land in Africa” – as a Münsterland colonist in South Africa at the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. Lena embarks on an exciting search for traces of connections between her home region of Westphalia and colonialism.
