In the exhibition “Survival—Between Dinosaurs and Scaly Trees,” you’ll journey into the world of saurians and dinosaurs, traveling through all the geological eras, starting 485 million years ago and coming within 66 million years of the present. You’ll discover gigantic herbivores, swift predators, and bizarre plants in their natural habitats. This journey through time takes you to the oldest plesiosaur, to exotic habitats such as the Devonian reefs of the Rhenish Slate Mountains, the Carboniferous coal swamp forests of the Ruhr region, and the shallow seas of the Jurassic Wiehen Mountains and the Cretaceous Münsterland.

On display are also the oldest fully preserved flying insects, dinosaurs, and the world’s largest ammonite. There are guided tours, workshops, lectures, and a rally app.

“Surviving Among Dinosaurs and Scaly Trees” is the second of three exhibitions as part of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Paleontology Exhibition.
