The Westphalian nobleman Widukind wants to end the cruel war against the Frankish king Charles, who wants to spread Christianity by force. After an inner struggle, he succeeds in making peace, which becomes a symbol of hope and humanity. Musically, the award-winning modern opera moves between classical, rock and pop. Composer Thomas Lotz (Berlin) and director Birgit Kronshage (Detmold) brought the life of Widukind to the stage with amateurs and professionals.
