As part of the pilot project “Mission Wunderkammer,” the mondo mio! Kindermuseum e.V. is taking an innovative approach by actively involving children in the curation and re-presentation of the collection. In participatory research workshops in Dortmund and at other museums—including the LWL Textile Museum in Bocholt and the LWL Open-Air Museum in Hagen—children ages 4 to 12 are developing new classification categories and approaches for exploring the exhibits. The results will be incorporated into the presentation of the collection, which comprises approximately 500 objects and will be displayed for the first time in a viewing storage area upon the opening of the new building in 2029.
