To coincide with the 2027 International Garden Exhibition (IGA), the Gustav Lübcke Museum in Hamm will present the exhibition “It Was the Gardener!” starting in April 2027. This large-scale exhibition on the cultural history of the garden traces its origins back to ancient Egyptian garden culture and illustrates the connections between urban history, Egyptology, and art using historical examples from Westphalia. The exhibition is based on the museum’s significant collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, which are contextualized alongside objects of art and cultural history. An extensive accompanying program featuring guided tours and events offers diverse perspectives on a topic that combines historical insights with contemporary issues in urban and living space design.
