About the project

From a mysterious first mention to a duchy to a kingdom to a Prussian province. Westphalia has had many faces in history. In the Imperial Palace in Paderborn - a base for Charlemagne during the Saxon Wars - the public strolls through Westphalia's history. The multifaceted development of the region since it was first mentioned in 775 can be experienced on around a thousand square meters of art-historical, historical and archaeological exhibits.

Tuesday to Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
1st Wednesday of the month 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Further information

Every Sunday and on public holidays, a public guided tour at 3 pm offers all visitors a deeper insight into the exhibition. The accompanying program includes a series of lectures entitled “Westphalian Worlds”, workshops, hands-on activities and events.
