Speaker Sarah Giese and actor Jonas Riemer present selected texts by author Mechtild Brand in a dialogical reading. In several publications, Mechtild Brand has dealt intensively with the fates of minorities, forced labor and suppressed life stories.

The reading focuses on the personal memories of displaced persons and forced laborers. The texts combine historical accuracy with literary condensation and paint an impressive, moving portrait of the people behind the stories. This work was made possible by the trust that the eyewitnesses placed in Mechtild Brand.

Beyond mere documentation, the reading gives a hearing to voices whose experiences have long been overlooked – and makes them tangible in a haunting, present and necessary way.
