The audience experiences a duo that is at home in classical music, but whose dramatic temperament reveals the soul of Latin American music. In a brilliant cross-over, Duo Casals combines the unparalleled traditional rhythms and melodies of Brazilian folklore with stylistic elements of American jazz and European chamber music as well as the Argentinean Tango Nuevo by Astor Piazzolla.

The German cellist Felicitas Stephan and the Peruvian guitarist Juan Carlos Arancibia Navarro enter into an unconventional dialog between two instruments that are related in terms of pitch, material and form and yet are such opposites, impressively demonstrating how perfectly the bowed notes of the cello harmonize with the plucked notes of the guitar.
